Lito D. Pernia, Board Member

Born and raised in Agdangan, Quezon, he has earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of the East in 1982 with a major in Accounting.  After two years of working in Manila, he was directly hired to work for a Saudi-American company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia till his migration to the United States in March 1988. He has been employed with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. since 1988 (the first Filipino to work for America’s top and premier civil rights organization) first as a staff Accountant, to Assistant Comptroller, and in 2001 he was promoted to the position of Comptroller.  Although he also attended nursing school for four years in the New York, he has worked exclusively in the field of Accounting.  Married to Marie Callos, a Registered Nurse, they have 2 daughters, Marie Anne, a Registered Nurse and a graduate of the College of Mount Saint Vincent, and Lizelle Antoinette, a sophomore at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, double majoring in International Business and Finance. He was an active member of the community for over a decade until his retirement early this year.
